Chopard L.U.C Time Traveler One Khaki: Useful Beyond the Airport

A worldtimer does not need constant air travel to justify its dial. For a collector whose working day crosses several countries, seeing other cities’ hours together can be more relevant than tracking a single home time while away. Chopard’s khaki L.U.C Time Traveler One makes an interesting case for that less romantic, more practical use.

The 2026 reference 168574-3013 is a 250-piece edition in ceramicised Grade 5 titanium. Its attraction is not simply that the dial is green. It offers a deliberately information-rich alternative to buying another conventional sports watch.

Start with the cities you actually use

The city ring and 24-hour disc let the wearer consult 24 reference cities. Chopard assigns local-time setting to the crown at two o’clock and city-disc adjustment to the crown at four. Once the local zone is aligned at twelve, the display provides a shared frame of reference.

Before buying, choose three cities that matter to you and ask for a demonstration. Read them in succession, then return to the local time. Repeat without bringing the watch close to your face. That is a more revealing test than admiring the mechanism in a macro photograph.

Information has a visual cost

The pointer date adds another scale inside an already layered dial. The yellow accents help separate functions, but they do not remove the need to learn which indication you are reading. We would judge this watch by how quickly that layout becomes familiar, not by how impressive its complexity sounds.

A buyer who usually needs only two time zones should also consider a simpler dual-time watch. More information is worthwhile only when it earns its place. For particular destinations, check daylight-saving conventions and non-hour time differences rather than treating the city ring as a universal answer.

Dark titanium is a design choice

The case measures 42mm across and 12.09mm thick, with a stated water-resistance rating of 50 metres. The green rubber strap and titanium pin buckle make a coherent pairing with the dark case. This is not an automatic recommendation for every wrist or every activity.

We find the restrained exterior more persuasive than a brightly polished treatment for this dial: the case does not compete with the information. That is a design judgment, not a durability test. For a used example, inspect the surface treatment, case edges, crown condition and strap before deciding whether its appearance reflects ordinary wear or work that needs explaining.

Understand the movement you are buying

The automatic L.U.C 01.05-L runs at 4Hz and provides approximately 60 hours of power reserve. It is COSC-certified and visible through the sapphire back. Those are useful specifications, but they should begin the conversation about an individual watch rather than conclude it.

Request service documentation and a demonstration of setting, date operation and the city display. A chronometer designation is not a substitute for checking present performance. Equally, an attractive movement photograph tells you little about the service work a particular example may require.

Read the price correctly

Chopard’s US product listing quotes $20,300. That is a published retail figure, not a verified transaction price, a Swedish quotation or proof of immediate availability. Confirm the applicable local price and delivery position before making a decision.

The edition size should not be used as a shortcut to value. Ask whether you would still choose the watch without the limitation engraved on it. For a secondary-market purchase, compare the exact reference, documented condition, original buckle, strap, accompanying papers and seller’s terms. A lower headline price is not necessarily a better offer when important details remain unresolved.

The 777CHRONOS view

The most convincing reason to buy this Chopard is a genuine preference for its way of displaying time. Its appeal is strongest when the owner wants several cities available together and enjoys learning a dial rather than demanding immediate simplicity.

Our recommendation is to make the decision in that order: establish that the complication is useful, confirm that you can read it comfortably, then assess the specific watch and price. The khaki colour and limited run are supporting details. Neither should persuade you to buy a worldtimer whose display you would rather replace with a cleaner one.
